The holiday season isn’t always merry and bright for everyone. It can be a season of stress, sadness, and loneliness. Many people are carrying significant weights: grief, loss, depression, anxiety, uncertainty, family worries, health concerns, and more.

The public tone of the Christmas season, especially as the new year approaches, does not resonate with many people. However, no one is alone. As Carol Hanson reminded in her article on page 1.

Each year on Dec. 21, Zion’s offers a safe worship space for people to honor losses and respect concerns. The Blue Christmas Service begins at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21 (the longest night of the year) in the sanctuary. The reasons for attending are many, as we remember that God is good. God is strong. God is walking with us now.
