Dear Voting Member of Zion's Lutheran Church,

After consultation with the Rev. J. Dana Peterson, who is the Rocky Mountain Synod's Assistant to the Bishop for Congregational Vitality, it has been brought to the attention of the church council that the scheduled special congregational meeting on Sunday August 4 does not allow for a vote, just discussion.

Therefore, following the process outlined in Zion’s constitution and in Roberts Rules of Order, the church council on July 30, 2024, voted to move the special congregational meeting to Sunday, August 18, 2024.

The updated meeting announcement includes the opportunity to vote about the continuation of the Reconciling in Christ (RIC) discernment process.

The official meeting notification follows:

A special congregational meeting is being called for Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. to discuss and vote to affirm the unanimous church council decision to continue the RIC discernment process.

As the motion is being discussed by the voting members of the congregation, all points of view, whether for, against or neutral, will be provided an opportunity to be heard.

As defined in our constitution (Chapter 8), "Voting members are confirmed members who, during the current or preceding calendar year, shall have communed in this congregation and shall have made a contribution of record."
