Sixteenth Sunday After Pentecost -- GWOH Sunday

Welcome Friends and Guests: James tells us to stop showing favoritism in the assembly, treating the rich visitor with more honor than the poor one. Jesus himself seems to show partiality in his first response to the Syrophoenician woman in today’s gospel. Was he testing her faith in saying Gentiles don’t deserve the goods meant for God’s children? Or was he speaking out of his human worldview, but transcended those limits when she took him by surprise with her reply? Either way, the story tells us that God shows no partiality. Everyone who brings a need to Jesus is received with equal honor as a child and heir.

Worship: We welcome all into the fullness of God's love. If you are visiting, please fill out a yellow guest card and put it in the offering plate as a record of your visit. Come back and worship with us each Sunday at 10 a.m.

Communion: We celebrate open communion. You may come forward for the sacraments or cross your arms across your chest for a blessing. This is Christ’s table, all are welcome, as Christ welcomes all.

Fellowship: Please join us after worship today for our GWOH project. We are preparing and serving meals to those in need at Cimino Park in support of Pastor Clay and the Way ministry.
