October is the traditional month for animal blessings as October is the Feast of Francis of Assisi, who is considered the Patron Saint of all animals and of ecology. So, Zion’s Lutheran Church invites pet owners and their fur animals to join us in blessing of the animals at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, in the fenced lawn area of the Fellowship Hall.
All socialized animals are welcome for a blessing. Bring your animals on a leash or in a crate or cage for the blessing. If it is not possible for your animal to be with you or your pet recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge, you are invited to bring a photo of them or even a “stuffy” for a special blessing.
And there’s more!
We also will help to bless those animals who are in need and who can benefit from other donations of food, health care, and pet items. Therefore, people are invited to donate pet items – including food, new or lightly used leashes, collars, bedding, etc. as well as to make a monetary donation, all of which will go to support PALS.
We also will have drawings for door prizes, gifted by local merchants. After the blessings, participants (human and non-human) are invited to mingle, play, and enjoy refreshments and treats.
