A Safe & Sacred Place: Blue Christmas Worship
The holiday season isn’t always merry and bright for everyone. For some, it can be a season of stress, sadness and loneliness. Many people are carrying significant weights: grief, loss, depression, anxiety, financial stress, unemployment, uncertainty, aging parents, sick children, recent diagnoses, unknown illnesses. The public tone of the season does not necessarily resonate with many people’s private experiences. However, none of us are alone, and we have every reason to hold on to hope.
That is the purpose of Zion’s Blue Christmas Service, on Dec. 21, the long night of the year.
The Zion’s congregation invites all who desire to honor their losses and who wish to do so in a safe and sacred space to join us. The worship service begins at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21, in the sanctuary.
It provides a quiet and contemplative worship experience that respects those who are walking through grief and struggling with loss. It is intended to create a sacred, holy setting for comfort. The reasons for coming are many, but the purpose is to remember that God is good. God is strong. God is near.
Zion’s Lutheran is a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) congregation.
All are Welcome
